Eye Exams

Eye exams are essential for detecting cataracts and other vision issues. Regular eye exams, particularly for those over 60 or with risk factors for cataracts, can help diagnose cataracts early and determine when surgery might be necessary.

Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is a common procedure to treat cataracts, a condition where the eye's natural lens becomes cloudy, leading to vision impairment. The surgery typically involves removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Advances in technology have made it possible for cataract surgery to be safely done in a more convenient, less invasive manner.

Office-Based Surgery

Office-based cataract surgery refers to performing the procedure in an office or outpatient setting, rather than in a hospital. With the use of modern equipment and minimally invasive techniques, office-based surgery offers faster recovery times and lower costs compared to traditional hospital settings. This type of surgery can be performed under local anesthesia, reducing the need for general anesthesia.

Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)

The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is an advanced intraocular lens (IOL) used in cataract surgery that allows for post-operative customization of vision. After the lens is implanted, it can be adjusted using ultraviolet (UV) light. This adjustment helps fine-tune vision for optimal results. The process typically involves a series of light treatments over a few weeks to achieve the best possible visual outcome. LAL offers the flexibility to correct refractive errors after surgery, providing more precise and personalized results for patients.
